A better next step.

Admission planning

Academic eligibility

  • A relevant bachelor's of at least three years, normally in psychology, computing, cognitive science or a related discipline, with a German-equivalent grade of 2.5 or better.
  • Other subjects require demonstrated relevant preparation in natural or technical information processing or mathematical modelling.
  • Selection is competitive.
  • Applicants with degrees from India, China or Vietnam need the prescribed APS evidence; follow the current documentation and translation rules.

Admission planning

Language requirements

  • English C1 is required.
  • The department lists IELTS 7.0 or comparable approved evidence, with provisions for native English speakers and degrees wholly taught in English.
  • If using TOEFL, confirm the accepted certificate and current test-scale equivalence rather than assuming a pre-2026 score format applies unchanged.

Admission planning

Study intakes

  • First-year entry is in winter only.
  • The standard full-time course is four semesters and admission is restricted.

Admission planning

Application deadlines

  • The currently published recurring winter-entry application period is 1 April–15 May.
  • A 2026 application is no longer open; confirm the active future cycle before submitting.
  • German applicants and current Ulm students use the university route, while other applicants are directed to uni-assist.
  • The final application route depends on applicant status.

Admission planning

International tuition

  • For winter 2026/27 and summer 2027, the normal non-EU international tuition charge is EUR 1,500 per semester where liable, plus EUR 192 compulsory semester charges.
  • Exemptions are legally limited and need an individual assessment.
  • Later fee years, special continuing-education programmes, living costs and insurance must be budgeted separately.

Admission planning

Scholarships & funding

  • Ulm lists a Deutschlandstipendium call dated 22 October–5 November 2026.
  • Enrolled students within the standard period of study may apply, subject to the call and selection rules.
  • This is not automatic funding for a future applicant or evidence that tuition will be waived.
  • Reconfirm the call before relying on its dates.
