NKUA offers distinct international routes in medicine and classical studies alongside postgraduate research programmes. Its six-year English Medical Degree combines preclinical teaching with hospital-based clinical practice. An English-language medical degree is not, by itself, a licence to practise in Greece, India or another country.

Selected programme examples

  1. Medical Degree English Program — 6 years, 360 ECTS
  2. BA in the Archaeology, History, and Literature of Ancient Greece — Athens
  3. MSc in Archaeological Science

Admission planning

A little clarity.
A better next step.

Admission planning

Academic eligibility

  • Medicine requires an eligible foreign secondary-school background and one of the published academic or admissions-test pathways; the committee interviews shortlisted applicants.
  • The current list does not establish automatic equivalence for every Indian Class 12 board, so request a written assessment of your exact qualification.
  • A medicine-related BSc is another published entry pathway, not accelerated entry.
  • The archaeology MSc is postgraduate study and has separate degree prerequisites.
  • Before a medical deposit, check the applicable NMC rules, clinical/internship evidence and home-country registration pathway.

Admission planning

Language requirements

  • The selected international programmes are taught in English.
  • Medicine lists accepted English evidence and a waiver for qualifying English-medium high-school graduates.
  • Greek is not required at admission, but NKUA recommends conversational/medical Greek for patient communication during clinical rotations.
  • Language of lectures must not be confused with the language patients speak.

Admission planning

Study intakes

  • The medical programme advertises September 2027 entry.
  • The Athens BA and the archaeology MSc follow their own academic-year calls; Cyprus-branch dates and fees should not be applied to Athens.

Admission planning

Application deadlines

  • For the medical academic year 2027/28, NKUA’s official Important Dates page gives 16 November 2026–31 March 2027.
  • Verify the live application portal and supporting-document conditions.
  • The medical FAQ explicitly states that transfers and credit transfers are not accepted: admitted students begin in semester one.

Admission planning

International tuition

  • The medical FAQ updated in October 2026 states EUR 17,000 per academic year for 2027/28, including a EUR 5,000 initial deposit credited toward first-year tuition.
  • The separate fee page still labels the same rate 2026/27, so obtain the offer’s payment terms.
  • Athens BAAG currently lists EUR 6,000 per year; this is not the medical or MSc fee.

Admission planning

Scholarships & funding

  • Medicine’s current FAQ states that no entrance or pre-entry scholarships are available.
  • Later merit or socio-economic awards may be offered to eligible enrolled students; they cannot be assumed as initial funding.
  • Other programmes have their own scholarship conditions.
