Admission planning

A little clarity.
A better next step.

Admission planning

Academic eligibility

  • A Food Technology, Biotechnology or equivalent relevant bachelor's with an adequate academic record, normally Dutch 7/10 equivalent.
  • Preparation must cover food chemistry, engineering, microbiology and physics, mathematics, statistics and research skills.
  • The Admissions Board assesses the transcript and any knowledge gaps; a pre-master's is not a way to bypass the GPA requirement.

Admission planning

Language requirements

  • IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with speaking at least 6.0, or an accepted alternative.
  • The required evidence must accompany the application.
  • IELTS Online and One Skill Retake are not accepted; check the applicable exemption rules rather than assuming an English-medium letter is sufficient.

Admission planning

Study intakes

  • September entry for the on-campus Food Technology master's.
  • It is not among the five programmes listed for an additional February start.

Admission planning

Application deadlines

  • Non-EU/non-EFTA applicants must register in Studielink by 15 April and submit the complete WUR application by 1 May for September.
  • For invitation-based WUR scholarship consideration for September 2027, the full master's file must instead be submitted before 1 December 2026, including the completed bachelor's diploma and valid English evidence.

Admission planning

International tuition

  • The institutional non-EU master's tuition is €22,560 for academic year 2027/28; the 2026/27 annual rate is €21,900.
  • This is annual tuition, not an entire two-year price.
  • Living costs, required insurance and residence-related charges are separate.
  • Payment or accepted funding for September entry is due by 1 July; the final invoice determines the amount owed.

Admission planning

Scholarships & funding

  • Eligible Indian nationals may be considered for the Anne van den Ban Fund for September 2027 after unconditional admission and an early complete application.
  • It is invitation-only, with no direct scholarship application, and can cover tuition, living, travel and insurance/visa costs.
  • Other WUR schemes have restricted nationality lists; India is not on the 2027 Excellence Scholarship country list.
