For the campus CS master's, UMass assesses bachelor's-degree equivalence and expects substantive computer-science preparation, including programming, data structures, theory and relevant mathematics such as calculus and linear algebra. Submit the programme's required statement, résumé, transcripts and two recommendations; GRE scores are optional for this route. It is not an automatic conversion course for an unrelated graduate. Mechanical and Industrial Engineering has its own graduate application requirements, so the CS prerequisite list should not be applied to Mechanical Engineering. Use the Graduate School's current accepted English-test and exemption rules together with any department-specific instructions. Applicants should ask whether their previous qualification satisfies the university's evidence requirements rather than substituting a medium-of-instruction letter without approval. Check degree equivalence separately from English proficiency.

The Bursar's 2026–27 out-of-state/international graduate table lists USD 18,997.50 tuition and listed service, health and senate fees for one nine-credit semester. Health insurance, optional charges and the engineering fee, where applicable, are additional. This is a semester/load-specific university schedule, not a total MS quotation. Twelve-credit and later-year charges differ. Fees are not a university-wide average. Confirm the exact course, fee year, currency, deposit, extra charges and refund conditions before paying.

The CS listing publishes recurring December 15 for fall on-campus applications and October 1 for spring; its online fall date is different. On October 22, a spring application window closing October 1 is already past. Confirm the next dated cycle with CICS before relying on the recurring December date for fall 2027. The Graduate School lists fall and spring CS starts, with different application dates for the on-campus and online formats. Verify that the chosen concentration is available in the intended term. Engineering programmes maintain their own calendars and may have different funding-priority dates. A semester start date is not an application closing date.
